Magločistač (Serbia)
Summary
Magločistač is a media outlet of civil society, which was founded in 2015 by the Citizens' Association "Center of Civic Values" from Subotica, with the mission to provide public-interest local journalism, which is freely accessible for everyone.
Magločistač mainly reports on social issues and the preservation of the cultural heritage of the city of Subotica. In their reporting Magločistač always tries to be focussed on solutions rather than just reporting the problems, to increase the pressure on politicians to actually tackle problems.
In recent years, Magločistač's reporting has repeatedly contributed to positive changes, but the organisation, like many other independent media outlets that are considered by the government to be part of the opposition, is still under massive financial pressure. This is mainly due to the difficult legal situation for NGOs and the high requirements for handling donations in Serbia, which, for example, deliberately makes donations for media projects impossible.
