beabee is project by CORRECTIV in Germany, The Bristol Cable and The Bureau of Investigative Journalism in the United Kingdom and Vereniging Veronica from the Netherlands. It wants to empower independent local news organisations in Europe, to help them start and run community-centred and community-funded newsrooms.

beabee develops an open source platform that empowers newsrooms to do journalism with their communities and not just for them, turning audiences into active informants, members, supporters, volunteers or collaborators. The project has a strong focus on privacy-by-design principles and putting the power of data ownership back in the hands of communities.

beabee ist ein Gemeinschaftsprojekt von CORRECTIV, The Bristol Cable und dem Bureau of Investigative Journalism im Vereinigten Königreich und Vereniging Veronica in den Niederlanden. Unabhängige Lokalredaktionen in ganz Europa sollen befähigt werden, community-zentrierten und community-finanzierten Journalismus zu machen.

Dafür entwickelt beabee eine Open-Source-Plattform, die diesen Redaktionen hilft, ihre Communitys zu aktiven Informantinnen, Mitgliedern, Unterstützern, Freiwilligen oder Mitarbeitenden zu machen.
