Essen onboarding session

This is the draft plan for the workshop by Ana and Ricardo on March 8th.

Goals

  • Map out the onboarding process, from join to full setup: Figure out where to place each question, and the ideal set of sections to accomodate everything

  • Who are our target users: define how many user types we want to cater to, how tech savvy they are, how much time they are willing to spend in the setup

  • Work through open challenges and dilemmas in the onboarding flow (opt-in, GDPR obligations, payments)

  • Flesh out the content and tone of the text that will guide and help people navigate the process

  • Gather answers in the process and, most importantly, new questions that are bound to come up

  • Important: This is about content, not layout ;)

Plan

  1. Collective overview of the SaaS onboarding Mural and question mapping

  2. Review the existing flow proposal (by A&R)

  3. Define our "user"

  4. Paper prototype of the onboarding flow

  5. Identify pain points

  6. Split into groups to work on specific details (see below; the amount depends on how quick we can move)

  7. Go back to paper prototypes to complement them with our conclusions

Specific issues to address in group sprints

  • GDPR details

  • Payment process

  • Mailchimp setup

  • DNS and custom domains

  • Copy-editing help texts, default e-mails and introductions
