# How to create, edit and delete tags
Tags can be created or edited in the contact databse.
* Open the contact database by clicking on *Contacts* in the sidebar menu.
* Click on the tag button under the search field. Now the list of tags opens up. Click on *Manage tags* to create a tag or edit an existing one.
* Edit or delete a tag by clicking *Edit* or *Delete* right next to the tag you want to edit or delete. Please note: When you edit a tag that is used in the database, the tag will change for all the contacts tagged with it. When you delete a tag that is used in the databse, all contacts tagged with it will loose it.
* Click on *Add tag* to add a tag to the list.
* Give the tag a name and click on *Add*.
* Done! You can now use it to tag your contacts.
